Heat Dissipation of Condensing Units

Heat dissipation can be broadly categorized into two types

1. Water-cooled condensing Unit

This method uses water as a medium to dissipate heat instead of air. The refrigerant, which is at high pressure and high temperature, flows within the condenser. Various types include Plate Heat Exchangers or Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers.

2. Air-Cooled Condensing Unit

Main Components of a Condensing Unit

• Compressor: Compresses the refrigerant gas returning from the evaporator coil to a high pressure. The boiling point of the refrigerant increases with pressure, allowing it to condense back into a liquid after exchanging heat in the condenser.
• Condenser: Dissipates the heat from the high-pressure refrigerant gas compressed by the compressor. When the refrigerant exchanges heat with air at a temperature below its boiling point, it condenses into a liquid.
• Fan: Blows air through the condenser to aid in heat dissipation.
